Sony tries to get down with the kids. Fails.
Thursday December 14th, 2006
E3 was bad enough, Sony stumbled through their shoddy presentation making various claims and sound bites for the Internet to devour and manipulate. But what you’re about to hear next goes beyond all expectations, I honestly couldn’t believe how ridiculous a company could get.
As we all know, the PSP isn’t fairing too well under Nintendo’s mighty grasp of the handheld world. Instead of say, releasing more games for it, pumping more money into it, Sony decided to go down the most ridiculous route you could imagine and do it wrong at the same time.
Basically, they paid a marketing company to set up a blog from the point of view of some kids who want a PSP for christmas. They hoped the cheesy videos and printable (…)

Just remember to re-sync your controller in the future
Saturday December 9th, 2006
I live in a flat with 5 other people and three of use are happy owners of the amazing Nintendo Wii.
As you can imagine, multi-player mayhem is on the agenda so there’s usually a Wii in the lounge, located just across the corridor from my room. So, after re-syncing my controller with the Wii in there, a good game of Tennis ensued, with much brutality, there’s marks on the ceiling from Wii-motes and bruises to share. Take note of health and safety information eh?
Anyway, after a while I decided to come back into my room, put my controller down and turned off my Wii (from the button on the front). A few seconds later I hear cries of confusion coming from the lounge. Upon further (…)

Nintendo Wii
Saturday December 9th, 2006
December 8th 2006, the day that changed the gaming world forever?
Well, after a day spent trawling around town, I finally managed to get my hands on a Nintendo Wii. Not without hassle however, getting it was a journey starting at 8o’clock in the morning. Nearly all places were pre-order only, as expected, the only place we could find who didn’t take them had already sold 6 Wii’s off the shelve.
My only hope was Currys, the incompetent store of woe. There was a small gathering outside the doors, 8:50am, you could pick the chancers from the look in their eyes. Darting from shop to shop in the vein hope that one of them, just one, will have a console to sell outright. We had our pre-orders (…)

Wii mania.
Thursday December 7th, 2006
It’s Wii-day for us Brits tomorrow, as I sit here on Wii eve, I can’t help thinking it will be a complete and utter disappointment. I’m not going to get my hopes up, because the probability is pretty high to assume I won’t get one. Even though I have two pre-orders sitting in tow different shops.
The first is a no show, they said I can have one on the next delivery. The second one I picked up on Monday, from Currys and they seemed absolutely oblivious to what I wanted. In the end they took my £20 deposit and gave me a receipt, I’m a bit apprehensive to wonder whether the girl that served me knew what she was doing. So hopefully employee incompetence means (…)

Download YouTube Videos to your hard drive.
Sunday December 3rd, 2006
Disclaimer: I’m unsure as to what the legality of this is, but to be fair, youtube hasn’t got the greatest reputation in the world.
Isn’t it annoying that the flash player on youtube doesn’t cache your videos? Or you view a video but can’t find it again the next day? Wouldn’t it be better if you could just download it? Well, you’re in luck, there’s a simple way to download videos straight your hard drive, so you can view it whenever you want.
So how do you do it? Well, some places recommend a Firefox plugin of sorts, but I use a site called KeepVid. All you need to do is simply paste the URL of the respective video into the textbox at the top (…)

Million Dollar Homepage guy pushes his luck.
Saturday December 2nd, 2006

Everyone remembers (and envy’s) Alex Tew, a student from London famous for fabricating the ‘million dollar homepage‘, a novelty advertising website that sold space by the pixel. Well, he’s at it again, not content with the one million notes gleaned from his last venture, he’s in the process of creating a new website called pixelotto that sells each pixel at $2 a pop.
The twist this time round is that there’s going to be some sort of lottery where “the winner who clicks the right advertisement will win $1 million.”
I’m not convinced, it seems greed has got the better of him, obviously it’s natural for any ‘entrepreneur’, and I say that loosely, to want more money, (…)

Man orders Xbox, Gets Xbox 360
Friday December 1st, 2006
After browsing a few forums for tips on good console deals, I came across a small story about a gentleman who came out of a shop with more then what he bargained for.
“wolvesinwales: I went to get the XBOX plus 4 games for £50 from the Argos offer today and they gave me an XBOX 360 by mistake, beat that for a bargain.”
For the uninitiated, Argos is a catalogue retail outlet where you order your item at the checkout and it comes down a conveyor belt within a few minutes from the warehouse at the back. It relys solely on the integrity of order pickers to ensure the correct items reach the correct customers.
Not only was it an Xbox 360, it was a premium Xbox (…)
