A ceremonious return!

Friday January 19th, 2007

Okay so it’s pretty obvious this blog has been suffering from a lack of updates and it’s this to which I apologise. A lot has happened in a month (or there abouts) and I’ll drop the usual excuse of being too busy to think of blogging. Don’t fear though, I have returned to resume normal service.

So, what exactly have I been doing over the Christmas period and beyond? To be entirely honest, not a lot, most of it was just spent consuming alcohol or eating, as you always do. Other then that, my Wii has been a slice of briliiance, you know Nintendo have got it right when you get home from the pub to find your family playing Wii Sports.

Since then I’ve moved back to University and have been busy doing assignments and so forth, most notably a Half Life 2 Deathmatch modification. Here is a few screen shots of progress

So, I could carry on to babble on about recent technology innovations, but I won’t, there’s been enough coverage of the Apple iPhone on the web to fill a book, it looks an amazing piece of kit, but the price will be astronomical and unnecessary, knowing Apple.

$599 for the 8GB version and $499 for the 4GB I believe - that’ll probably translate to £499 and £399 for the UK.

I’m *really* looking forward to getting an AppleTV and a new AirPort Extreme base station.

£400 is still a lot of money.

People are suggesting it’ll revolutionise the phone market, but to be entirely honest it’ll only sell to professionals who need a PDA/Phone thing to organise their life.

Most of mobile phone sales go on the more reasonably priced handsets for the mass market.

The AppleTV thing sounds pretty cool, but it was quite frustrating how they didn’t really talk about it much in the keynote speech, it seemed like they wanted to get it out of the way quickly to reach the iPhone part.

In fact, you’re the first person who’s mentioned it since!
