The European launch of the ‘most eagerly anticipated console of all time‘
Sony have finally managed to locate Europe on the map and announced that we’ll be getting a slice of the PS3 pie. Everyone knows that my opinion of the machine (and Sonys arrogance) dwindles by the day, but I’ll be interested to see what exactly happens on that fateful day.
It’s stated that 1 million units will be available to purchase EU-wide. with around 1 quarter of that coming to us Brits.
250,000 machines. That’s woefully low for a console launch, people can only but hope Sony will be shipping the things on a constant basis to finally get their hands on what they want.
However, as everyone knows by now, console launches tend not to be the innocent affairs that you’d expect. As I’ve stated many times in the past, when demand outstrips supply, people move to eBay. Most people purchasing the aforementioned machine will go straight home, take a photograph and put it up for sale at an inflated price. The sad thing is, people are willing to pay to get what they want. It’s a great investment for someone looking for quick and easy returns.
So, will it be hit or miss for Sony’s step up from the PS2 in the console market?

Hmm, 3 days after my b’day, but I doubt I’ll be getting one — my PS2 has been nothing but a noisy DVD player for the last 2 years or so.
